There is little doubt that Xiaomi is already working hard on its next big flagship. The Mi 6 has already appeared in leaked shots, benchmarks and more than a few rumors. It seemed like the Chinese giant was going to unveil the phone at MWC 2017 and perhaps even earlier.
While a surprise announcement is still not out of the question, a company spokesperson just confirmed that Xiaomi doesnt have anything new to showcase at MWC 2017 and will thus be skipping the event entirely.
VP Hugo Barras departure from the company might be viewed as a sign of turmoil as well. However, there is another more positive and arguably more viable explanation for the Mi 6 delay as well. We shouldnt glance over the fact that both the Mi Note 2 and Mi 5s Plus are still only a few months old so, there isnt really any shortage of flagsh ips at the moment. Plus, if Samsung is indeed hoarding the supply of Qualcomms new Snapdragon 835 chips, it would definitely make sense to push the Mi 6 back a bit, so it doesnt end up with an inferior Snapdragon 821.
